SINGAPORE: A 25-year-old man has been placed on a 12-month probation for rubbing the thigh of a woman passenger while they were on board a bus.
Ted Ho Shu Rong admitted to molesting the 28-year-old woman on a bus in August last year.
The offence took place during late afternoon on SBS service 93 bus that was travelling from Braddell Road to Eunos Link.
The victim immediately moved her legs away from Ho when he rubbed her thigh.
Ho repeated the act a few minutes later which shocked the victim who didn't dare to move away.
The victim only made a report after she alighted from the bus.
The police managed to trace Ho through EZ-link records from the bus and CCTV footage.
In its written mitigation, the defence said Ho was "feeling tired and drowsy" when he was on the bus.
It said Ho was woken up suddenly when the passenger shouted at him and accused him of rubbing her thigh.
The defence lawyers said their client had told them he didn't realise what he had done until the woman passenger scolded him.
Ho has since apologised to the woman.
The court also heard that Ho has low intelligent quotient (IQ) because he had Kawasaki fever when he was a child.
