A man distraught over family issues threated to jump from a 40 metre electricity transmission tower in east China, but firefighters eventually talked him down to safety, a local news site reports.
The resident of Hengfeng county in Jiangxi province was upset his wife didn’t want a second child, according to Jxnews.com.cn. They already have a son, five.

The father, who was in his 30s, climbed the tower and emergency workers were called to the scene, according to the report.
Firefighters set up an inflatable cushion and tried to talk him down. After 16 hours, he relented and climbed down.
The mainland this year relaxed family planning rules to allow all couples to have a second child, in a bid to combat the greying of society and slowing population growth.
