SINGAPORE - A man was arrested for possessing a weapon and resisting arrest near Yio Chu Kang MRT station on Thursday (March 24).
A police officer discharged a taser to incapacitate the 31-year-old man "for public safety".
He was found to possess "an offensive weapon" during a routine check at 3.54pm, police said.
"Despite repeated warnings by the officers, the man put up a violent struggle and assaulted officers to evade arrest," said a spokesman from the Singapore Police Force.
A witness, Mr Joseph Choo, said there were more than 10 law enforcement officers at the scene.
The suspect was arrested for possession of the weapon, assaulting a public servant, fraudulent possession and drug-related offences, said police.
Police investigations are ongoing.
