Man shoots daughter-in-law dead

Published: 24 Aug 2013 at 18.40

PHATTHALUNG – Police are searching for a 75-year-old man wanted in the shooting death of his daughter-in-law.

Officers said that Plake Srikongkaew fled his home with a gun after shooting Auayporn Khunrit, 44, after an argument.

Auayporn had moved back into her own family's home in another district and did not want to return to live with her abusive husband, police said.

She was shot four times in her torso and legs, said police at the Na Kayad police station in Khuan Khanun district.

Auayporn had argued regularly with her husband, Prayoon Srikongkaew, 45, and there were reports she had been beaten. Consequently, she left to stay with her family in Sri Nakarin district.

Auayporn returned to the house to collect her remaining belongings and got into an angry quarrel with Mr Plake. The old man went into the house and got the gun belonging to his son in law and shot the woman, police said.
