Man sentenced to jail and caning for molesting woman at MacKenzie Road carpark
Hsu Yisong, who is self-employed, has been sentenced to two years' jail and ordered to be given three strokes of the cane.

SINGAPORE - A self-employed man, who molested a performing artiste in the wee hours of the morning at an open air carpark, has been jailed for two years and ordered to be given three strokes of the cane.
Hsu Yisong, 25, was sentenced last Friday (April 29) after admitting to causing wrongful restraint while molesting the 27-year-old Chinese national along MacKenzie Road on Jan 25 last year.
He had lifted up her top to grab her breast, tried to pull down her shorts and restrained her with a neck lock at the time.
Investigation showed that she was walking through the carpark along MacKenzie Road at about 3.30am that day when she sensed that someone was following her. She turned around and saw Hsu.
She also saw six men standing in the carpark and assumed that she would be safe and continued walking.
Suddenly, Hsu ran towards her and restrained her from behind in a neck lock. She felt she could not breathe because of the degree of force used, the court heard.
Hsu lifted up her top, and grabbed her breast forcefully. She shouted for help, and tried to push his hand away.
He then tried to pull down her shorts while she struggled and managed to break free after she bit him on his arm.
The six men heard her shouts and ran towards her. Hsu took to his heels and two of the men pursued him. Hsu turned into Selegie Road and continued running towards Hotel 81 along the road.
He flagged a taxi and boarded it. The two men caught up with him, and managed to detain him. They called the police.
Hsu was placed under arrest. The victim was taken to hospital for scratch marks on her lower abdomen, and small bruising over her arms.
Hsu's sentence was backdated to May 12.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and caned for causing wrongful restraint during the molestation.
