SINGAPORE - His disguise? He pretended to be a doctor and even carried around a thermometer, surgical gloves and what appeared to be a stethoscope.
His modus operandi? He would ask his victims for directions, and get them to lead him to the place he was looking for.
His playground? Staircase landings where he would lure young girls before he would abuse them.
Ng Ban Keong, 55, pleaded guilty in a district court to three charges of molestation and one of sexual penetration of a minor on Friday, reported The Straits Times (ST).
From 2004 until his arrest on June 15, 2010, he had managed to deceive seven girls all under the age of 13.
The youngest of his victims was nine years when the father of two blindfolded and molested her on her way home around Sims Drive on Oct 26, 2009.
On Sept 13, 2004, he asked an 11-year-old girl to show him the way to a flat at Clementi Avenue 4. He claimed to be a doctor looking for a student who was absent from a health check.
At a staircase landing, he took out his medical tools and unbuttoned the top button of the girl's school blouse. He, then, pressed her breasts on the pretext of checking for 'lumps'.
When he tried to lift her skirt and she resisted, he would cajoule her, thereby earning her trust, and then press the lower part of her stomach.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Gail Wong urged District Judge Roy Neighbour to give Ng a stiff sentence of up to 12 years.
She said Ng exploited vulnerable young girls, was a serial offender over a prolonged period and deceived the victims into believing he was a doctor.
Ng's lawyers Subhas Anandan and Sunil Sudheesan asked for time to prepare a mitigation plea and consider the DPP's submissions, said ST.
The case has been adjourned the case to March 23.
Ng, a former human resource manager, was also charged with molesting three other girls. He faces a total of six more charges, which will be considered during sentencing.
