A 34-YEAR-OLD went on trial yesterday for sexually abusing his daughter for more than 10 years, starting from when she was just six.
The alleged offences came to light only last year when the girl, now 17, confided in her mother after an altercation with her father.
The girl and her parents, who were divorced in February, are not named in order to protect her identity.
The man faces a total of nine charges relating to the alleged sexual abuse of the eldest of his three children from the marriage.
The current trial involves three charges of rape, one charge of oral sex and one charge of molestation between 1999 and last year.
The other four charges - three for rape and one for oral sex - have been stood down.
