Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today deplored the amount of money and time being spent in technological research on how to kill people.
Mahathir noted that human beings were capable of doing many things with the power they wielded.
The Langkawi MP cited the recently concluded Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) and expressed disappointment on how the showcase “glorifies big fighters”.
“You see, with LIMA, I wanted it to be a show for small aircraft. But now you see all the fighter planes. How we glorify them.

“What are the fighter planes for? For killing people. What are the bomber planes for? For killing people. What are rockets for? For killing people.
“We are spending so much money on research on how to kill people, which does not speak very well of the level of civilisation we have achieved,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the Perdana Leadership Foundation CEO Forum 2019 here today.
LIMA began during Mahathir’s last tenure as prime minister in 1991, with slightly over 100 exhibiting companies with the aim of making Langkawi the venue for light and experimental aircraft to fly unhampered by heavy traffic.
LIMA has since expanded into maritime exhibitions and is also one of Asia Pacific’s largest maritime and air exhibitions.
Mahathir expressed sadness that mankind was making use of its knowledge and power to kill people.
He cited the example of microchips, which have the ability to perform all kinds of things.
“We think of it and find a way to achieve it. But what do you want to achieve, if it is not for the good of human beings?
“Today, I am sad to say that every single new discovery is studied in order to kill people. The most important study is on killing people. That is what is happening now.”
Mahathir also cited how the Chinese had once invented firecrackers with the purpose of chasing away devils using loud noises.
“But in the hands of the Europeans, they saw a potential to kill people.
“Today, we see explosives being used as weapons to kill people. Even when they discovered explosives, the first thing they think about is how to kill people.

Mahathir is hypocritical to condemn fighter planes when his two ships are in Spore water territory and looks like need fighter planes to move them out. Can’t remember who said it but there is a saying good people must always be prepared to go to war in the event the dispute cannot be resolved otherwise will be bullied by bad people.

So true isn’t it? Peace is not empty talk. Need heroes to sacrifice lives and assets for it.

If everyone does nothing and sit there waiting for heroes to sacrifice lives and assets to protect them for free, eventually there is no one left to be hero and these doggies will get what they deserved and that’s called karma.

The declaration, lodged with the United Nations in New York, comes amid an ongoing maritime boundary dispute with Malaysia over Singapore territorial waters off Tuas.

SINGAPORE has filed a declaration under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to ensure that no signatory of the international treaty can unilaterally start third-party arbitration or adjudication on maritime boundary disputes involving the Republic.
Singapore said it believes such disputes are best settled through negotiations, failing which, it is prepared to take them to an international third party for settlement on terms that all sides agree to.

Why is arbitration critical when talk can do? You are a liar blaming Spore for the problem when the problem is created by mudland that refused to remove the ships.

When is Spore going to send a “suicide mission “ to remove the ccb Malaysian ships from Spore waters?
