Man nabbed for stealing from donation box

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for an offence of Theft in Dwelling committed in a mosque along Tampines Road.
On January 29, 2013, the suspect was captured stealing from the mosque donation box by CCTV at night but he managed to get away.
The next day, at about 10.30am, a staff spotted the suspect loitering in the premises and informed an off-duty police officer from Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Senior Station Inspector Abdul Mutaliff, who was serving as a volunteer at the mosque.
SSI Mutaliff immediately responded and managed to detain the suspect for questioning. Patrol officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division were alerted.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and will be charged in Court on February 1 for the offence of Theft in Dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.
If convicted, the suspect faces a jail term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.
