Vietnamese man kills 5-year-old son for 'whining': police

Police in northern Vietnam said Thursday they have arrested a man on suspicion of killing his 5-year-old son and hiding the body.

Trieu Van Thang, 45, was accused of stabbing his son several times to death on September 9.

Police in Ha Giang said the family had been searching for the missing boy for days.

After they launched an investigation, Thang reportedly confessed that he killed the boy.

Thang said that the boy kept whining and wanted to be held all the time, which made him angry. He also said he had an argument with his brother earlier and lost his temper.

Police said after stabbing his son, he buried the boy's body near a pond in his field and returned home.

Investigation continues.
