A former aircraft specialist was jailed a total of seven months on Friday for punching a bus driver, doing a rash act to endanger the personal safety of passengers and harbouring an immigration offender.
Muthusamy Rajoo, 51, who pleaded guilty, had boarded SBSTransit feeder bus service number 403 in Pasir Ris on Dec 26, 2010 when he tried to tap his ez-Link card but no sound came from the reader.
Bus captain Wong Swei Wah, 48, told him his card might be faulty. Muthsamy, who had been drinking earlier, shouted at the victim and paid a dollar for the fare.
After collecting his ticket, he walked to the back but returned shortly and punched the driver on the face once. He also hurled vulgarities at Mr Wong, who had had to control his vehicle as he was making a right turn so as to avoid causing an accident.
