A man who stole money from his girlfriend and cheated her father was jailed a total of 28 months on Friday for the offences. He had also misappropriated property belonging to his employer.
Former valuation officer Joshua Koh Kian Yong, 28, was out on police bail for cheating offences when he misappropriated IT goods and shopping vouchers amounting to $45,896 from Docu Connex while working as the assistant manager last year. He sold the goods for $25,000 and paid back $10,084 to the company which is in the business of selling photocopy machines.
Koh had admitted to two counts of cheating hawker assistant Yeung Hon Ming, 61, of $30,000 each, stealing HK$45,000 (S$7,241) from Ms Yeung Ting Ting, 25, and the criminal breach of trust charge.
A district court heard Mr Yeung met Koh when his daughter introduced him as her boyfriend in September 2009. While the couple were in a relationship, Koh lived with Ms Yeung and her father at their Toa Payoh flat.
