Man investigated for making false police report

SINGAPORE: An 18-year-old man is being investigated for making a false police report.
The man reported to the police that two unknown men had assaulted and robbed him of his mobile phone and EZlink card in the vicinity of Jurong East.
In the course of the investigations, the officer detected many discrepancies in the information provided by the man.
Police said the man eventually admitted that he had lodged a false report.
They added that anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to S$5,000, or with both.
