A Chinese man has been executed after stabbing to death two family planning officials who rejected the registration of his fourth child, mainland media reports.
He Shenguo killed two people and wounded four others with a knife that he had sharpened overnight after walking into Dongxing city’s family planning office in Guangxi province, in 2013, the China News Service reported.
The attack took place the day after staff at the office had refused to register the birth of his fourth child. The decision would mean the child would face problems in receiving welfare support and going to school.
He, who had a history of mental illness, was sentenced to death in 2014, and was executed in Guangxi on Thursday, the report said.
The father of four had ridden a motorbike to the office building and walked upstairs before attacking people in a third-floor office and others who came to help.
His execution came the week after China abolished its one-child policy, which was launched 35 years ago.
It will now permit each couple to have two children instead.
