A Singaporean man has sought help from Thanh Nien newspaper to recover a bicycle he says was stolen during his visit to Ho Chi Minh City early last month.

Ho Kin Cheon, 57, arrived the city February 2 via the Moc Bai Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province.
The former math and computer programming teacher, a single man, travels around Asian countries with a red Dahon folding bicycle, which he calls a “long-time friend.”

The day after he arrived, it disappeared from in front of 127 Hotel in Cong Quynh Street where he had left it to get some pho (Vietnamese noodle).
He returned home six days later for Chinese lunar new year but did not give up hope of finding his bike.

He contacted the Singaporean Consulate in HCMC and was advised to advertize in Vietnamese newspapers.
Finally, he was told to ask Thanh Nien’s Singapore bureau for help and his story has since been run in that newspaper.
The loss of his bicycle is a “lesson” since he did not listen to Vietnamese who had told him to lock it while in the street, Ho admitted.
“Anyway, I hope a miracle will happen,” he said.

“Someone may return it to me after they know the bicycle is of little value.
“It has shared a lot of sweet and bitter memories with me.”

No wonder the Singapore consulates overseas does not entertain SINkingporeans, what did he loose? A BICYCLE..
