A 32-year-old crane operator caused injuries to 2 sisters, aged 6 and 9 respectively, as well as their pet kitten, after he crashed his vehicle into a restaurant sidewalk in Taman Austin, Johor Bahru, Johor, on Saturday (1 November), at about 11:30 PM.

According to a report by China Press, the driver was initially believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the incident happened, as the man allegedly not only showed no remorse for the injuries caused, but also argued back when confronted.

However, Johor Bahru Selatan Police Chief Superintendent Azrul Hisham Bin Mohd Shaffei confirmed that the man’s urine screening came up negative for any substances.

2 girls and their pet kitten were injured

The 2 girls, who are the daughters of the restaurant’s owner, were playing on the restaurant’s sidewalk when the man’s vehicle suddenly crashed. Both girls sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment in the yellow zone.

Subsequently injured was the girls’ pet kitten, which was left with its internal organs exposed.

This case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving a vehicle “without due care and attention” or “without reasonable consideration for other users” of the road.
