SINGAPORE - A man was charged in court on Tuesday with raping a 12-year-old girl and sexual grooming of the minor.
Lee Seow Peng, 38, is alleged to have raped the girl at a public carpark at Chinese Gardens in Jurong sometime on May 29, 2012.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 20 years with at least 12 strokes of the cane.
The second charge accuses him of sexual grooming by having communicated with the girl on at least two previous occasions before the alleged statutory rape.
