Man charged with living off earnings of underage prostitute

SINGAPORE: A man has been charged with living off the earnings of an underage prostitute.
The accused cannot be named to protect the identity of the 17-year-old girl.
He was alleged to have committed the offence in Geylang between mid-January and mid-March this year.
Under the law, anyone who knowingly lives off the earnings of the prostitution of another person faces a jail term of up to five years and a fine of S$10,000.
In a separate case, a 50-year-old woman has been charged with robbing a 25-year-old woman in a lift in Ang Mo Kio.
Ang Lay Chin allegedly used a knife to rob her victim, Ms Gan Pei Fueng, at about 8.20pm on 29 September.
She was believed to have acted with another man, robbing Ms Gan of S$100 in cash, a mobile phone, as well as jewellery and accessories worth about S$4,500.
Anyone found guilty of robbery by night faces up to 14 years' in jail.
The additional penalty for being armed during a robbery is up to 12 strokes of the cane. However, as Ang is a woman, she will be spared the cane if convicted.
