SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old man was charged in court on Monday (March 7) with cheating a buyer on e-marketplace Carousell over a round-trip bus ticket through the Malaysia-Singapore vaccinated travel lane (VTL) scheme.
Muhammad Solehudin Abu faces a single charge of cheating another man on Feb 19 into believing he was selling the ticket from Singapore to Malaysia for S$195.
Solehudin allegedly used his Carousell account “fastdealllllaahh” and induced the other man into transferring the sum to a POSB account.
The police said in a news release on Friday evening that the suspect then purportedly did not deliver the ticket and became uncontactable.
Solehudin was arrested on Thursday and the police’s preliminary investigations revealed that he is purportedly involved in several other cheating cases. A police prosecutor told the court on Monday that the authorities are tracing two other alleged victims over VTL tickets.
