In the Subordinate courts today, 45-year-old Singaporean, Samuel Tang Yong Meng, was charged for the second time for unlicensed employment agency (EA) activities.
This is not the first time the accused was charged for unlicensed EA activities. In September 2007, Samuel was convicted in court for operating as an unlicensed EA and fined $2,000.
For the second time around, Samuel was alleged to be involved in the recruitment and placement of foreign workers without an employment agency licence. Samuel had liaised directly with foreigners interested to work in Singapore and submitted work permit applications.
For his involvement in unlicensed EA activities, Samuel faced two charges under the Employment Agencies Act (EAA). His case will be heard again in Court at a later date.
