Man arrested over spate of robberies and snatch thefts

SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 39-year-old man on Monday for suspected involvement in several cases of lift robberies and snatch thefts.
In a statement, police said between 23 and 29 January, five cases of robberies and snatch thefts were reported in Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh, Sims Drive and Bedok North.
The victims of these cases were robbed of their mobile phones and cash amounting to over S$600.
Following investigations and ground enquiries, police made the arrest at Lorong 8 Geylang.
The suspect will be charged in court on Wednesday with robbery with hurt.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of between five and 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane. - CNA/xq
