Man arrested over alleged pass application scam

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of cheating foreigners with a work and student pass application scam.
Two alleged victims made police reports between Jan 31 and Feb 10, claiming they had paid the man to help with their applications. But after they handed him the money, between $2,500 and $6,000, they did not hear from him again.
The man was nabbed on Friday. Two receipts books, a chequebook and two handphones were also seized, and investigations are ongoing.
He is expected to be charged in court on Saturday for cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code. He could face up to 10 years in jail and a fine.
