Man arrested for theft from trolleys at IKEA

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 50-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for several cases of theft from trolleys. Channel NewsAsia understands the thefts took place on furniture giant IKEA's outlet at Alexandra Road.
A police news release on Friday (Aug 15) said around 5:30pm on Tuesday, a woman had reported that her mobile phone was stolen from her handbag which had been placed on a trolley.
The suspect was arrested at about 12.30pm near Clementi Avenue 5 on Thursday. He is believed to be involved in three other theft cases at the same location.
The man will be charged in court on Saturday and faces up to three years' jail and a fine. - CNA/by
