SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old man has been arrested for suspected involvement in several cases of loanshark-related harassment in Sengkang.
The suspect had allegedly splashed paint at the door and scrawled loanshark graffiti on the wall of a residential Housing Board unit at Bukit Panjang on Dec 10, 2015, the police said in a release on Wednesday (Jan 13).
Officers arrested the suspect along Segar Road on Tuesday (Jan 12), after extensive probes to establish his identity.
A mobile phone and a cap were seized.
Investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have carried out similar acts of harassment in Sengkang estate.
First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment face fines of between $5,000 and $50,000, with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years and caning of up to six strokes.
