AsiaOne Thursday, May 07, 2015
SINGAPORE - A man was arrested yesterday for his suspected involvement in a series of loanshark harassment cases that involved fire.
The police, who received reports of the incidents last month, managed to establish the suspect's identity after extensive probes and ground enquiries.
The 27-year-old suspect, who was arrested in Geylang at about 6.30pm, will be charged in court tomorrow.
First-time offenders found guilty of acting on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender, committing or attempting to commit any acts of harassment face a maximum jail term of five years and a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000. They will also be liable to caning of three to six strokes.
