SINGAPORE: A 47-year-old man has been arrested for disorderly behaviour.

On Monday at 3.56pm, police responded to an incident at Block 52 Chin Swee Road, after receiving a call about a drunk man who was causing trouble.

When they arrived, the police officers observed that the man was behaving drunkenly and smelt strongly of alcohol.

The officers tried to engage him but the man started behaving in an aggressive manner by shouting and charging towards the officers.

Despite repeated warnings for the man to stop, the man continued charging at the officers.

As a result, the officers had to deploy their Taser and eventually managed to subdue him.

The man was subsequently placed under arrest for disorderly behaviour and suspected consumption of controlled drugs.

The man will be charged on Wednesday with disorderly behaviour in a public place.

If convicted, he could be fined up to S$1,000 or jailed up to one month.

In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, he could be fined up to S$2,000 or jailed up to six months. - CNA/xq
