Man arrested for damaging police cameras

Posted: 18 October 2012 1725 hrs

SINGAPORE: A 47-year-old suspect has been arrested for damaging police cameras at a block in Telok Blangah Crescent.

On October 4, police discovered that two cameras installed at Block 4 for the Community Policing System were not functioning.

Early investigations showed that they could have been damaged by an unknown male suspect.

The suspect was caught about two weeks later at 1.30pm on October 17.

Crime Strike Force officers from Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre were conducting enquiries in Telok Blangah estate when they spotted the suspect and arrested him.

Investigations are ongoing.

Under the Vandalism Act, a first-time offender can be fined up to S$2,000 or get up to three years' jail.
