Man arrested for condo break-ins

Police have arrested a 29-year-old Chinese man who is believed to be involved in at least eight cases of break-ins at private condominiums.
Since September 2010, several cases of break-ins were reported at private condominiums and apartments situated in the vicinity of Bukit Timah Road, Orange Grove Road, Stevens Road and Holland Road.
The suspect was arrested at his residence at Pasir Ris Street 12 on 12 October 2010 at about 3.30pm. An assortment of items which are believed to be stolen, including handbags, laptops, cameras, a mobile phone, a watch and keys amounting to a total value of about S$8,000 were also recovered from the suspect?s possession.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 14 October 2010 for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. A person convicted of this offence faces a maximum jail term of 14 years.
The Police would like to remind house occupants to secure all doors and windows before going to sleep or when leaving home. House occupants should also avoid keeping large sums of cash or valuables at home.
