A MAN who allegedly lured his victims with the promise of jobs then sexually assaulted them on the pretext of conducting a medical examination, was accused of 12 more offences yesterday.
Mohamad Rizuan Rahim, 28, first appeared in court in July accused of molesting six girls and women.
The victims were aged 15 to 25, and the alleged offences took place in the staircase landing of a multi-storey carpark in Jurong West and at a hotel in Geylang between October last year and July this year.
A police investigation showed that the unemployed man could have committed the more serious crime of sexual assault on two of his victims.
Rizuan is said to have advertised vacancies for part-time jobs.
After meeting the victims for an “interview”, he claimed to be a certified nurse and told them he had to examine them before giving them the job.
He is said to have sexually assaulted a 19-year-old girl at the hotel in Lorong 22 Geylang on June 13. She was also allegedly molested by him twice that day.
He is accused of sexually assaulting another 19-year-old at the same hotel, molesting her and insulting her modesty between 7pm on Jan 23 and 12.30am the next day.
And he is alleged to have molested a 15-year-old girl four times by pressing and massaging her breasts, and touching her inappropriately in the carpark staircase landing on July 10.
The prosecution applied for a gag order on the victims’ identities and four weeks to complete the investigation.
Rizuan’s lawyer, Mr S.S. Dhillon, told the court his client was claiming trial.
The prosecutor had sought to double Rizuan’s bail to $30,000, but District Judge Lim Tse Haw increased his current bail from $15,000 to $20,000. His passport has been impounded.
The case has been adjourned to Dec 12.
The maximum penalty for molestation is two years’ jail, a fine and caning.
Sexual penetration without consent is punishable with up to 20 years’ jail and caning.
For insulting modesty, the maximum is one year’s jail and a fine.
