A man from northern China allegedly hired by a teenage schoolgirl’s father to kill her lesbian lover 16 years ago is returning to face trial after his arrest this month, Chinese media reported.
The man raped and killed the victim before dumping her body in a well in Luoyang, Henan province, in 2000, according to the report by Nanjing Television.
The suspect was paid 10,000 yuan (HK$12,000) by the father of the victim’s lover.
The father, who was not named in the report but is now serving life sentence, said he discovered the girls’ relationship because his daughter’s school performance dropped sharply after she fell in love with the victim.
They rented an apartment and lived together, which he found intolerable.
The father said he visited the victim’s family many times to appeal for them to get the victim to leave his daughter but to no avail.
He said he initially just wanted to find someone to beat up the victim to keep her away from his daughter, but a lawyer friend told him he could settle the issue “once and for all”.
The lawyer contacted the suspect and arranged the crime.
The lawyer was handed the death penalty and executed.
