Man accused of raping 11yo girl

A Canberra man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl has been remanded in custody.
Glen Vandervord, 33, is alleged to have assaulted the girl in May this year.
He faces four charges including rape, attempted rape and committing acts of indecency.
The girl told police the incident happened when she was alone with the man and they had a bath together.
She also told police Vandervord had told her it was their secret and not to tell anyone.
Vandervord's lawyer told the ACT Magistrates Court he would defend the charges and that his parents were prepared for him to return to live with them in New South Wales.
But Magistrate Bernadette Boss refused bail, saying the prosecution case was strong partly because the girl appeared to know things you would not expect from someone her age.
