SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly slashing a club bouncer's throat.

The incident occurred on Sunday along Sentosa Gateway, and the police were called in at about 4.30am. The injured male victim, aged 29, was sent to Singapore General Hospital with a deep gash on his throat.

Police arrested the suspect two days later, on Tuesday, in the vicinity of Clementi Avenue 5. Preliminary investigations indicate that he attacked the victim after the latter told him to leave the club due to his rowdy behaviour.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court on Wednesday for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, and could face up to seven years in jail, and/or caned and fined.

SINGAPORE - A man was charged in court on Wednesday with slashing a part-time bouncer in the neck at a Sentosa nightclub.

Mohamed Asrafd Peer Mohamed, 22, is accused of grievously hurting Mr Prakash Jagajeevan, 29, by attacking him with a glass fragment outside Infinity Club at about 4.30am on Sept 28.

Bail of $15,000 was offered.

Asrafd will be back in court on Oct 29.

In a statement on Tuesday, police said they were alerted to a case of an injured person at an entertainment outlet on Sentosa Gateway at about 4.30am last Sunday.

Clementi police division officers carried out extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations to establish the identity of the suspect.

The suspect was arrested near Clementi Avenue 5 on Tuesday.

Preliminary investigations showed that the victim, who is currently stable in hospital, is believed to have been attacked after telling the suspect to leave the premises due to his rowdy behaviour.

The maximum penalty for causing grievous hurt is 15 years' jail, a fine and caning.
