Malu-Mani: I am a coconut trying to be a banana

In his regular rant about Sinkies in The Straits Times published 10 August 2013, page 38, he revealed his belief in Chinese superstition despite the fact that he is a coconut (dark brown outside, white inside).

Is he trying very hard to be a banana (yellow outside, white inside)?
