ABSTRACT The use of the FaceApp application allows users to modify a person's face photo with various variations, either to make their photo look older, younger or of the opposite sex. Generally, the use of this application is for entertainment purposes or at times as mockery. The spread of the use of this application raises the legal question of its use and has received a response from religious groups and fatwa institutions in Malaysia. Analysis is done on legal answers by religious scholars and fatwa institutions in Malaysia, in addition to the views of individuals and certain parties outside of Malaysia as references and comparisons. Generally, the use of this application is condemned as haram by relating the prohibition of changing the creation of Allah S.W.T as in Surah An-Nisa' verse 119 and Surah Ar-Rum verse 30. Likewise with the hadith of the Prophet SAW which forbids men who resemble women and vice versa. However, the unlawful law stated is not based on these arguments directly but it is linked to other elements that are likely to exist or have implications as a result of using this application. Its versatile function makes it a tool that is needed by people of all ages. Likewise his role in helping people with disabilities and the elderly in life matters. It is certain that the capabilities of smartphones will continue to be improved by the manufacturers of these devices while adding functions and roles to human life. The growing use of smartphones today has encouraged the production of various phone applications. The applications produced either function to help users in their work or daily life or as entertainment.
