Complimented with sambal belachan and air Assam. You don't really need any other flavour if these two are superbly done. Just eat with ikan kembong, rice and malay salad ( Ulam or jerabu) or roasted aubergine like what this lady having.

Warning. Terubok Taste great but plenty of tiny bones and splinters.

Truly you're an offspec Malay.

The best fish for malay tastebud is Kurau. It's not a fresh water fish so the flesh is naturally delicious without that earth/soil aftertaste. Cooked any which way but will taste sweet, esp when turned into soup. Meat is tender and moist flakey. Appearance is clean, white and succulent fresh.

Best eaten when you pick off the bony parts. But the bones are hard and sharp. Something the malay eating with deft hands are enjoying tremendously. And I havn't got started on it's health and medicinal benefits.
