A friend has this to say of me:

Osman, why are you so outspoken with your politics? Just be quiet lah. Then when the time comes, just go and contest. You will attract more enemies when you are outspoken as not all will agree to what you think.

My answer is this:

Bro, you want me to keep silent and quiet then when election time comes, I'l just contest? That is easy bro. But I don't want to cheat the feelings of the voters. They must know where I stand on certain issues.

You want me to be like those whom the PAP select to be a candidate and we don't know where they stand on issues that matters? And after gaining their parliamentary seats, they disappoint voters big time when they are too meek to voice out your concerns? No I am not going to do that.

I'l allow ppl to assess me so that they are well informed of who they are voting for and what I stand for. I cant get everyone to agree with me but generally, the voters are smart enough to evaluate whether they will be better supporting me or those whom they know nothing about.

We have seen how disappointing the Malay PAP MPs are. Having good jobs and education, we thought they are able to represent the interest of the community. We thought that their silence before elections is poise and grace. Only during their terms in office do we know the actual truth. That's 5 years wasted on electing ineffective leaders.

We should seek out these ppl to engage them on issues concerning the community so that we can better evaluate these candidates and where they stand before giving our precious votes.

He knows best about the Malay PAP leaders. I am not sure what expectations the community had for them. It is true they seem rather quiet. Maybe they are saying they prefer to work behind the scenes.

But what he is saying is also true of the other MPs. It is hard to tell they are working for us. Not from words or deeds. Maybe they are also telling us they are labouring quietly behind the scenes ( looking at you Mr. B***).
It was pretty funny the PM taking the WP to task for not being vocal on issues. He should look at his white brigade first.
