An Indian national was jailed 50 months on Thursday after she took more than $400,000 worth of cash and jewellery from her employer.

Kirandeep Kaur, 25, had been working for the family as their maid since 2009, at their apartment in Holland Road.

She waited till the family had left for a holiday on 26 Mar earlier this year, before raiding the drawer full of cash and jewellery on March 28 with a spare key that had been entrusted to her by the employer.

She then left for India but was eventually tracked down by Indian police. Not all the stolen items were recovered. Kirandeep was arrested when she returned to Singapore in August to look for work.

Read the full story in Thursday's edition of The Straits Times.

Took $400,000 yet need to come to singapore to look for work.
Either she is dumb or the employers are exaggerating the amount stolen.

lianbeng says, "12 months = 1 year, 50 months = 4 plus years? that's a lot of time to gangbang her in prison liao.":D

Is the reported figure true? $400,000 Sing dollars. I cannot believe that figure....
Kirandeep must be insane to return here to seek another job.
Just add the figure of $400,000 X 35000 rupees at an exchange rate of $1/ Sing dollar to 35000 rupees.
What would the total sum add to?
Kirandeep should be sent to IMH to have her head examined for what she did by returning her Sheer madness to be exact.
She could have opened a luxury hotel in India and employed old Singaporeans like me to work there as sweeper or toilet cleaner.
The Singapore police should further question her employer about the actual sum lost, otherwise some insurance company will loose money here. Remember people from this country (India) loves to exaggerate. A robbery victim saw a knife of 3 inches and reported it in his statement as a blade 3 metres long.
Some old cop (our forummer)may help by shedding further light....
What happened to the so called money collected by the Indian Police?
Ask their embassy here to help.....We are not like them. We are a squeaky clean country, aren't we???????
