SINGAPORE: A guide dog owner, Ms Cassandra Chiu, said she and her friend were "refused" service at the McDonald's outlet at Jurong Park on Monday during the fast food chain's island-wide free breakfast promotion.
Ms Chiu, who is blind, told Channel NewsAsia that she was informed by one of the staff that she could not be served "as there was no space in the outlet". The staff told her that she would have to come back later.
Channel NewsAsia understands she had planned to buy and take out a hash brown and coffee, and was not intending to consume the food in the outlet.
In an email response, senior communications manager of McDonald's Singapore, Kevin Lim said, "Customers are allowed to purchase food items during the promotion. We are unable to confirm if the statement was indeed what the manager had said but we would like to reiterate that it was not his intention to cause any offence or to refuse service."
