For decades women have been sold clothes that promise to flatter their appearance subtly, from corsets to padded bras.
And now men are being offered the same by the high street chain’s Bodymax collection.
The Bodymax underwear range contains pants with a built-in 'shelf' which offers 'frontal enhancement' of more than a third.
The pants, which are available in black and white, feature a 'unique integral shell' that gives the impression of a bigger bulge.
Alternatively, men can opt to give their derriere a boost with bum-lifting pants which raise the wearer's posterior by as much as a fifth thanks to special seam-free tailoring.
Dave Binns, of M&S, said: 'Women have been wearing and enjoying the benefits of shapewear for many years now and we saw such a positive response from men when we launched our Bodymax shaping vests earlier this year.
'Pants are the next natural addition to this range and our technologists have worked hard to engineer two styles that are comfortable to wear and that give real results.
'These pants provide a real confidence boost for men and we think they will prove popular with our customers.'
The underwear will go on sale from October 15th, with the frontal enhancement pants costing £10 and the bum-lift pants costing £15.
They will be stocked in ten stores across the UK and will also be available for purchase online.
