According to Sin Chew Daily, he took to Facebook to share his frustration anonymously, revealing that his once-coveted Bearbrick has “lost favour” in the collector’s scene and become a symbol of overhyped collectibles turned financial regret.

Even after cutting it down to RM130,000, I still can’t find a single buyer,” he wrote, adding that the collectible’s resale value has collapsed and he now stands to lose a 5-figure sum.

Bearbricks — a designer toy line from Japan known for limited editions and collaborations with top artists — were once considered a “holy grail” among streetwear and art collectors.

Certain designs had fetched sky-high prices at auctions, prompting a frenzy of collectors to jump on the trend.

But that hype has since faded. With interest dying down and market prices crashing, many collectors are now stuck with high-priced Bearbricks they can’t sell — even at steep losses.
