Lostprophets' music has been removed the shelves of a major British retail chain following Ian Watkins' child abuse admission.

The now-defunct band's singer pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including attempting to rape a baby and making indecent images of children, during an appearance at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.

The star's guilty pleas shocked the band's fans, and now executives at UK entertainment chain HMV have decided to stop selling all Lostprophets music and merchandise in the company's 140 stores.

Staff have been ordered to remove all Lostprophets stock that remains on the shelves, a spokesman for the chain confirmed to NME, while the company also reportedly plans to remove the band's music from sale on the HMV website.

The band split in October, shortly before Watkins was due to stand trial, telling fans they could "no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets".
