The employer of the lorry driver involved in a recent collision with a motorcyclist said the accident has been blown out of proportion.
A video clip of the accident on the PIE has gone viral and along with it, angry sentiments raised by netizens who appear to be on a witchhunt targeting the driver.
Some asked whether the driver had sideswiped the motorcycle on purpose.
While the driver's identity remains unknown, netizens have named the company that owns the lorry.
Mr Andy Tong, the managing director of Girin, which the lorry is registered under, told The New Paper on Thursday that he has also come under fire.
His office in Kian Teck Road near Tuas has been inundated with phone calls about the collision.
Mr Tong said it was a "normal accident".
"You all advertise the news until my poor driver says he can’t sleep. He is heartbroken (over the collision),” he said.
Mr Tong declined to name his driver, except to say that he is a Singaporean.
