SINGAPORE : A 65-year-old lorry driver has been arrested after he attempted to bribe a Traffic Police officer.
The driver was travelling along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Dec 23 at about 4.40pm when he was stopped by Corporal Roslan after he was spotted changing lane carelessly.
The driver's action had caused a motorcyclist to swerve to another lane to avoid colliding into the lorry.
After Corporal Roslan explained to the driver that he would be booked for careless driving, the driver took out two S$50 notes and offered them to the police officer, asking that he be let off in return.
Corporal Roslan immediately rejected the bribe and placed the driver under arrest for attempting to bribe him.
The case has now been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
