SINGAPORE: Three public hospitals in Singapore on Wednesday (May 14) advised patients to expect longer-than-usual waiting times at their emergency departments due to a high number of patients.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) put up a notice about the situation on its website, while Changi General Hospital (CGH) and Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) advised those with non-urgent conditions to seek treatment at general practitioner (GP) clinics.

"If you require admission, the wait may take a few hours," TTSH said on its website. "Our medical team will continue to see to your care at ED (emergency department) until you are warded."

SKH said in a Facebook post that priority will be given based on the severity of one's condition.

"For non-urgent, non-critical conditions, please seek medical attention at your GP, polyclinic or a Public Health Preparedness Clinic (PHPC). They can provide care and assist you if your condition requires an emergency visit to the hospital," it added.

CGH posted similar advice on its Facebook page.

"Help us save time and save lives by allowing our medical professionals to focus on critical, urgent emergencies," it said, adding that those with mild to moderate symptoms such as cough, sore throat or runny nose should visit a GP or PHPCs.

CNA has contacted the hospitals and the Ministry of Health (MOH) for more information about waiting times and the reasons for the higher number of patients.

On Tuesday, the MOH and Communicable Diseases Agency said they were monitoring a rise in COVID-19 cases.

The estimated number of COVID-19 cases rose to 14,200 in the week of Apr 27 to May 3, up from 11,100 cases in the previous week.

The authorities said Singapore’s hospitals are currently able to manage the increase in cases.

Because nowadays, doctors and nurses got lots of e-paper work to fill in on their screens. instead of spending more time understanding patients' condition, they are more interested in e-filling on their screens so that they can cover their backside just in case things screw up. Same problem all over the island including govt polyclinics, govt specialist clinics and even at hospital wards. E-paper work more important than patients' health outcome.

There was once I couldn't take it anymore and beaten one of the loctor to a puppy by asking him hey you key all these can cure my problem is it.

You go polyclinic see doctor, the polyclinic doctor don't maintain eye contact with you when you talk to him or her.

They are more interested in filling up their e-paper work with their eyes stuck to their screen 75 to 80% of the time you are in the consultation room.

There are many empty beds in all these mentioned hospitals.
The Lee son for the long wait from Ed to be transferred to the ward is becos the hospital workers are lazy. I indicate "hospital staff" but not to any particular one is becos it can be any of them. The admin, or the porter or the loctor or the ward nurse. Once there is any one of it lazy, the outcome will be long wait.

I can swear to a violent death for this claim.

One of the many factors. Others include:

1. Young snowflake residents who value work life balance so want to punch out on time instead of staying back to clear cases

2. Mass resignation of local doctors to join lucrative private aesthetic practices , resulting in manpower shortage

3. Vacant positions filled by contract hire foreign doctors who bring their toxic lazy NHS culture to our little red dot

4. Over production of doctors to fill the middle ranks with no prospect of promotion or job security, resulting in low morale and fuck care attitude. Soon to resign and join aesthetic practice anyway

5. Government hospitals also competing for foreign cash paying patients , resulting in resources and manpower diverted to service these VIP clients and leaving the unwashed peasants to languish at the A&E wards with little or no attention

Under Khaw Boon Wan the rot began and has now degenerated into a farce of a healthcare system. Mr $8 CABG laughing until he pops a hernia in retirement

Iris koh got answer.

Changi General Hospital, Sengkang General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital's A&Es are seeing longer waiting times.

TTSH said admission may require a few hours. https://str.sg/eyUU

The vaccines are "working" now. Doctors and scientists have warned that side effects may take 3-5 years. We are at that critical window now.
