Speeding man on the run
Zaihan Mohamed Yusof | The New Paper | Saturday, May 3, 2014

For more than 15 minutes yesterday, the lawyer paced the courtroom.

She was surrounded by three curious reporters as she made frantic calls to her client on her mobile phone.

When it was finally time for the sentencing process to begin in the State Courts, the worried lawyer told the judge that her client, Soh Seng Tze, was absent.

She told District Judge Jasbendar Kaur that she had last contacted Soh on April 2.

A warrant for Soh's arrest has been issued.

It was yet another act of defiance and daring by Soh. He had already admitted guilt to a whole list of charges on March 4.

The 32-year-old was guilty of failing to stop for a police officer, dangerous driving, driving under disqualification and failing to render assistance after an accident.

For reckless driving, he can be fined up to $5,000 and jailed for up to two years. But if the Court sees Soh as being dangerous to the public, this sentence may be tripled, with a jail term of up to 10 years.

His blatant disregard for road safety and the law was clearly evident when Soh led police on a high-speed car chase on March 25 last year.

Though separated from his wife at the time of the offences, he took her car from a carpark in Jurong East without permission and went to fetch his girlfriend at Beach Road.

All hell broke loose when Soh was speeding on the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) towards the Tampines Expressway (TPE) at around 8pm.

110KMH

The police, who were tailing him, clocked his speed at 110kmh despite a 70kmh limit on the KPE.

When he noticed the police car, he sped up, weaving in and out of traffic.

Soh negotiated slip roads on the expressways at close to 150kmh.

The chase continued from TPE to the Pan-Island Espressway and finally to East Coast Parkway.

Soh's top speed was recorded at 185kmh.

While trying to shake off the police, Soh drove against the traffic, ran a red light and crashed his car into a police motorcycle and a patrol car.

After a seven-hour chase, he was finally arrested at Prince Edward Road. And that, too, after a violent struggle.

With his failure to show up in court yesterday, he has again victimised his wife, Madam Chen Sok Tin, who was his bailor.

She will now will have to explain to the court why the $20,000 bail she posted should not be forfeited.

Sounds like a scene from Fast and Furious.

Why the cockhead ran from police?
Speeding at 110km is chicken feet offence.
Now become fugitive....nabei should channel all that negative energy constructively against miws.

Bro but you been to both jails in thailand and sg so i suppose such offences don't mean anything to you.

This report came out last year.

A self-employed man was charged in a traffic court on Thursday with seven traffic offences including speeding, dangerous driving and driving under disqualification.

Soh Seng Tze, 31, is accused of driving at 110kmh in excess of the 80kmh speed limit along Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway on Monday evening. He allegedly failed to stop when ordered by a uniformed police officer along Tampines Expressway (TPE); drove dangerously at high speed from the TPE to East Coast Parkway right up to Marina Boulevard where he hit a stationary police motorcycle and two police cars.

He is also accused of driving while he was under a 10-year driving ban imposed from July 2010; driving without insurance coverage; failing to stop when his car was involved in a collision with the police cars; and failing to render assistance.

An eighth charge states that he was absent from his full-time national service duties at Singapore Civil Defence without leave from November 2011 to March this year. Bail of $20,000 was allowed. His next court date is on April 18.

So that means he went AWOL for around 1 year 4 months. Anyway why is he an NSF in his late 20s since he is serving full time he should be an NSF during that period and who knows maybe still one now.
