一名网民在博客上指出，在许多新加坡女人的眼中，新加坡男人很多时候都“不行”（cannot make it），因为他们运动不好、不懂得日常维修、体能成绩差、没有理想和冲劲。

熟悉本地女性心理的本地红娘公司都表示，“理想”和“冲劲”确实是本地女性最看重的择偶条件。

红娘公司The Dating Loft创办人黄爱林针说，本地女性认为，有“理想”和“冲劲”的男性，不会满足于现状，而会提升自己，这会让男性看起来更性感，更吸引人。”

Cliquewise红娘公司创办人颜淑慧也认同“理想”和“冲劲”的重要性。

不过，多数红娘公司认为，本地男人最“不行”的地方，不是没有“理想”和“冲劲”，而是不懂得人情事故。

颜淑慧说，不少女会员表示，本地男性的仪容有问题，也无法有效和别人沟通。她说：“一些男性衣服穿得和阿公一样，一开口就得罪人，这样的男人怎么行？”
