Loaded pistol found in Shah Alam stadium during Malaysia Cup final

SHAH ALAM: A pistol with seven bullets was found in a toilet at the Shah Alam Stadium during Sunday's Malaysia Cup final between Pahang and Kelantan.

Deputy police chief DSP Ruslan Abdullah said police were trying to trace the owner and the motive for bringing the firearm to the stadium.

"We cannot provide any detail because the case is under investigation," he told Bernama.

It is understood the gun was found by a policeman when he was using the toilet.

DSP Ruslan said police detained 86 individuals for entering the stadium with fake tickets and all were subsequently released on police bail.

"We also detained five individuals for offences like lighting flares, firecrackers and hurling bottles.

"These actions not only endangered themselves but also other spectators including children in the stadiium," he said, adding that overall the final proceeded smoothly without any major incidents.

Pahang were the Malaysia Cup 2013 champions when they edged Kelantan 1-0 before 75,000 fans from both sides. Matias Ruben Conti was the hero for Pahang when he nodded home the winner in the 58th minute.
