SINGAPORE — The full slate of members for the People’s Action Party’s (PAP) top decision-making body have been announced.

In the 18-members list, three new faces were added to its ranks: Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and parliament backbenchers Zaqy Mohamad and Liang Eng Hwa, who were co-opted along with Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong.



During the biennial PAP convention on Dec 7, 12 were elected by party cadres and two members were co-opted that same day: Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong continues as secretary-general, while deputy prime ministers Teo Chee Hean and Tharman Shanmugaratnam remain as the first and second assistant secretary-general, respectively. The rest of the CEC’s office holders also remain unchanged.

PAP is more than LKY. While he is great, he is still a man and he has made good succession plans for PAP to succeed after he and LHL are gone. The PAP is more than just a man, which is more than I can say for lousy opposition parties such as SDP, RP and SPP, which all revolve around a single egomaniac. These one-man-show parties are led by men who wish to be LKYs but failed, and can only be content to be little LKYs in their make-belief worlds. The WP has been gaining support because it tries to be another PAP, and shifted away from the one-man-show days of JBJ. Glad Low Thia Khiang got rid of that liability.

I agree LKY is in everyway a great man as the late Mao Zedong,a true visionary and a genius.he gave sinkies cause to believe and under his guidance singapore went on to achieve great heights and taught sinkies to punch above their own weight.millions of sinkies would have followed him to their deaths.without the great LKY,singapore would just be a serene fishing village pattering along its mundane ordinary life in the southern eastern part of asia.SIngapore would not be known on the world map and in the books of history without his name.
