To cater to the growing number of Singaporeans working the night shift in the area. Surveys have also backed up the need for such an outlet, said NTUC FairPrice chairman Ng Ser Miang.
The supermarket giant will also pump in another $40 million to expand and upgrade its chain of stores.
It will spend $12 million on four new supermarkets, $11 million to renovate existing stores, and the rest on upgrading IT systems and warehousing.

The guest of honour, Mr Lim Boon Heng, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, reiterated the role of FairPrice in his speech. 'FairPrice was set up to combat profiteering' and is not 'driven by the prodit motive', he said.
