It wasn't too long ago that LHL made a famous declaration: that he'd be delighted if more billionaires would be heading this way to settle or set up shop.
Meet Linghu Jian, the nephew of Ling Jihua (1).
Here's what a little bird from the West told me:
Ling Jihua adopted Linghu Jian after his son was killed in a horrific car accident on March 18, 2012 involving a Ferrari (2).
Linghu Jian became a multi-millionaire at the age of 25 using his uncle's connections with people in high places.
He's a very shrewd businessman who put the Sinkie directors of the AIM saga (remember the S$2 company?) to shame. Why? For just 1 Chinese Yuan (US$0.16) Linghu Jian bought a 40% controlling stake in an well-known Chinese IT firm, CY Liandi Technology Company. At the time of his purchase, the company had funds worth over 8 million Chinese Yuan (US$1.3 million). Using his uncle's connections, Linghu Jian secured a contract worth over 1.2 billion Chinese Yuan (US$191 million).
Linghu Jian wanted to evade paying high taxes in his country and so registered all his business operations in Sinkieland. He preferred Sinkieland to Hongkong as the latter is under Chinese control. And in order to enjoy significant savings on his purchases of real estate and offices in Sinkieland, he applied for and received Sinkie citizenship within a day. (One must remember that his uncle, Ling Jihua, was the top aide to Hu Jintao, former President of PRC.)
Ironically it was Linghu Jian who introduced Ma Chi, who died in a horrific car accident involving a Ferrari on Bugis Road on May 12, 2012, to Ling Gu, the only son of Ling Jihua. One wonders whether Fate's cruel hand had a part in this: both young men perished in accidents involving Ferraris in a space of 3 months.
From Sinkieland, Ling Jian assisted Zhou Yongkang, Bo Xilai and hear this--the family of Jiang Zeming--to launder huge sums of money through Sinkieland. And the Sinkie authorities--especially MAS--do not raise alarm over it. Sinkieland has indeed earned the rightful title of "playground of the rich".
